design.nyc is a curated reference — founded and supported by SENTIENT — dedicated to the people and companies shaping New York's interiors, objects, materials, and built environment.
New York concentrates more design talent per square mile than any city in America, yet its design community has no single public index. Portfolios live on studio websites, careers live on LinkedIn, project credits live in magazine archives. This directory brings them together: one page per person, one page per practice, connected the way the community actually works.
The directory spans the full ecosystem of physical design — interior designers and architects, furniture and object designers, lighting designers and makers, rug, textile, and surface designers, and the workshops and fabricators who build the work. Every profile carries a portfolio, a project history, recognitions, and — most importantly — the firms and studios each person practices at, past and present. Follow a person to their practice, a practice to its people, and a project to everyone who touched it.
Profiles are compiled from public sources — studio websites, professional directories, press coverage, and award programs — and can be claimed by the practitioners they represent, so what visitors encounter stays current, considered, and true to the work.
