Founder, Ara Thorose Studio at Love House

Armenian-American furniture designer and material researcher, originally from Los Angeles, now based in Brooklyn, where he built a studio practice out of gallery Carvalho Park beginning in 2019. Developed the Soft Cylinders form language exploring line, movement, and material across chairs, tables, and lighting in steel, glass, and wool-blend upholstery. Represented at Love House gallery. Thorose trained at Cranbrook Academy of Art and launched his consumer-facing brand, Soft Limits, at the Architectural Digest Design Show in March 2019; the Soft Cylinders collection's tubular forms are sized to the width of an adult human thigh. A related 2020 piece, UN, a low seat and pouf in wool, silk, foam, and steel, was sold through a Carvalho benefit exhibition supporting the Food Bank for New York City and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
