Burcu K.

Brooklyn-based co-owner, with husband Olivier Garnier, of Color Atelier, a paint and plaster company operating from Industry City in Sunset Park. The company manufactures mineral-based paints and plasters, including limewash, lime plaster, and Tadelakt shower finishes, drawing on traditional European decorative-finishing techniques. Burcu K. worked as an interior designer before co-founding the company with Olivier, a French paint chemist from a family of decorative-finishing artisans, in 2017; the couple met in France in 2009. Products are formulated with aged limestone, clay, and mineral pigments and handcrafted in small batches at their California facility, with the Brooklyn showroom opening in Industry City in April 2024. Designers including Sarah Sherman Samuel and Michael K. Chen Architecture have used Color Atelier finishes in published projects.
