Carl Stein

Carl Stein, FAIA, is principal and co-founder of Elemental Architecture LLC in Manhattan, with a career in sustainable architecture dating to work at Marcel Breuer Associates (1968-1971) and Richard G. Stein (1971-1977) before founding his own practice in 1977. He studied physics at Middlebury College, architecture at The Cooper Union, and graduate design at Harvard's Graduate School of Design. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, has taught at the City College of New York School of Architecture, and received the New York Society for Architects Lifetime Achievement Award and an AIA Earth Day Top Ten Award. He authored Energy Conscious Architecture and Greening Modernism (W.W. Norton).
