David Calligeros

Founder of Remains Lighting Co., which he started in 1996 by sourcing and restoring antique fixtures before growing it into an artisanal lighting manufacturer. Calligeros studied architectural history at Columbia University and began the business hunting down and restoring vintage pieces before expanding into custom manufacturing. Fixtures are hand-fabricated at a 25,000-square-foot, LEED Gold factory in Brooklyn housing design, machining, welding, soldering, and plating departments, with quality control and assembly performed in-house and all fixtures made in the USA. The company has produced designs for firms including Commune Design, Robert A.M. Stern Architects, and Alan Wanzenberg, and maintains a showroom on West 28th Street in Manhattan serving architects and interior designers, alongside additional showrooms in Chicago and Los Angeles.
