Textile DesignerTextiles & FabricResidentialFounder & Designer, Bolé Road Textiles at Bolé Road Textiles
Brooklyn-based textile designer and founder of Bolé Road Textiles, a home-décor line of pillows, throws, bath linens, and wall hangings handwoven by artisans in Ethiopia. A Cornell-trained designer who spent eleven years as an architect at Studios Architecture in New York, Getachew draws her patterns from the Ethiopian textiles of her childhood, working from her studio in Brooklyn's Gowanus. She founded the line in 2015, debuting at the Brooklyn Designs trade show that year, and has since expanded into rugs, robes, and table linens. Collections include Admas, drawn from Ethiopian mountainscapes and sunrise palettes, and a collaboration with the Metropolitan Museum of Art store.
