John Hogan

Seattle-based glass artist working in hot-sculpted and kiln-cast glass, cutting and polishing finished forms to explore color and light refraction. Trained in traditional glassblowing at the Toledo Museum of Art before relocating to Seattle, with residencies at Pilchuck Glass School and the Tacoma Museum of Glass. Hogan studied political science and fine arts at Bowling Green State University, apprenticed with Czech artist Milan Handl in Nový Bor to learn large-scale kiln-casting, and trained with Osamu and Yumiko Noda at their atelier in Niijima, Japan. He co-founded the Seattle glass studio 5416 in 2010 and has collaborated on architectural installations with MOS Architects for the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial and with Westbank on the First Light Seattle residential tower. Lighting and objects are represented in New York through The Future Perfect.
