Kristen Wentrcek

Brooklyn-based furniture and lighting designer who co-runs Wentrcek Zebulon (formerly Wintercheck Factory) with Andrew Zebulon from a studio on the Bedford-Stuyvesant/Crown Heights border. The practice works with industrial materials such as fiberglass, stainless steel, concrete, and coated foam, moving between functional furniture and sculptural, collectible pieces. Wentrcek came to design from real estate development and Zebulon from a background in sculpture; the pair founded the practice as Wintercheck Factory in 2009 as a contract furniture business, rebranding under their own names in 2018 to focus on material-driven, collectible work using hand-poured fiberglass, resin-impregnated cast tape, and vinyl-coated upholstery foam. Named to the American Design Hot List, the duo exhibited Intermediate States at Collective Design Fair, with work featured in Wallpaper, Dwell, and Hypebeast.
