Brooklyn-based industrial designer who founded Nicholas Baker Studio in 2017 after relocating from Savannah College of Art and Design. The studio designs furniture, lighting, and everyday objects with a playful, approachable sensibility, using virtual reality and physical model-making to iterate forms before they reach manufacturing. Lighting work is sold through Gantri. Originally from North Carolina, Baker began his career designing for a pet company before starting the studio; he works in ceramic, glass, metal, plastic, and wood. Notable pieces include the Gantri-manufactured Pixel Light, a 3D-printed fixture with a retro grid pattern, and the VR-designed Super Chair, created with designer Damiano Latini. Baker also co-hosts the industrial-design podcast Minor Details and founded Almost Object, a small brand for experimental design collaborations.
