Nicholas Bijan Pourfard

San Diego-based furniture and lighting designer known for handmade pieces in wood, glass, and ceramic, including the Mushroom lamp and Bloop lighting series. An Iranian-American designer who began by building guitars from skateboards before turning to furniture, his made-to-order work is represented in New York through Love House gallery. Pourfard studied industrial design and business marketing at San Francisco State University and in 2014 launched Prisma Guitars, building custom instruments from recycled skateboard decks for musicians including Iron Maiden and Toro y Moi. He began publicly promoting his furniture and lighting practice in 2021, producing pieces such as the Loop table, Box chair, and Tall Boy chair; work is typically made to order within six to eight weeks.
