Founder & Designer, Pat Kim Design

Brooklyn-based designer and artist working from a waterfront studio in Red Hook. A Pratt Institute industrial design graduate who also studied at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Kim designs sculptural furniture, objects, toys, and lighting rooted in simple forms and durable materials. His work is carried by retailers including Design Within Reach and Areaware. Originally from Virginia, Kim graduated from Pratt in 2009 and worked as an intern at Fisher-Price and for a furniture fabricator before opening his own studio. His output includes sculptural tables such as Cleave, Berg, Cairn, and Corky, produced in materials including white oak, white-washed ash, black lacquer, cork, and stone, along with the Phase lighting collection. His pieces have also been shown through Patrick Parrish Gallery in New York.
