Peter Stamberg is co-founder of Stamberg Aferiat + Associates, a New York City architecture and design firm known for pairing modernist forms with bold color and sculptural, sensuous materials. He trained at Columbia University, Rhode Island School of Design, and the Architectural Association in London, beginning his career at Davis Brody and Associates. He and partner Paul Aferiat began collaborating in 1976 and formally founded Stamberg Aferiat Architecture in 1989. The firm's work spans residential, hospitality, and commercial design, and Stamberg designed the Salsa Lounge furniture collection for Knoll (1994); his "Cardinal Dotts" chair is held in the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum's permanent collection.
