Richard Dattner, FAIA, is a Partner who founded Dattner Architects in 1964 with a focus on civic architecture; the firm's early work included the Adventure Playground in Central Park (1967). He studied at the Architectural Association in London and earned a Bachelor of Architecture from MIT, later teaching at Cooper Union, City College of New York, and the University of Wisconsin. He served as Vice President of the AIA New York Chapter, received the Chapter's Medal of Honor and the AIA's Thomas Jefferson Award, and authored the books "Design for Play" and "Civil Architecture—The New Public Infrastructure."
