Sara Caples

Sara Caples is co-founder and principal of Caples Jefferson Architects, a Long Island City firm she established with Everardo Jefferson in 1987. The practice focuses on the intersection of social equity, education, and culture, with projects including the Weeksville Heritage Center visitor center in Brooklyn and the Louis Armstrong Center in Corona, Queens. The firm received the AIANY President's Award in 2017 and was named AIA New York State Firm of the Year in 2012. Caples has taught as a Davenport Professor at Yale and is a Fellow for Innovation in Engagement at Pratt Institute; she co-authored 'Many Voices: Architecture for Social Equity.'
