Founder, Tania Whalen Ceramics at Tania Whalen Ceramics

Brooklyn-based ceramicist, originally from London, whose studio at Industry City in Sunset Park produces handcrafted ceramic vessels with textured surfaces and irregular forms inspired by nature and architecture. Whalen lived in Tokyo for nearly two decades before relocating to the United States, where she discovered pottery through a class; she builds each piece by hand using the pinch and coil method. Her work has been shown in New York group exhibitions including "Salon des Refusés" at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (2024) and "Ladies First" at Tanya Weddemire Gallery (2023), and has appeared in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Domino, and Wallpaper. Whalen sells and shows work directly from her Industry City studio space.
