Furniture & Objects StudioEst. 2011

Fort Standard is a furniture and object design studio based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, founded in 2011 by industrial designer Gregory Buntain. The made-to-order studio produces wood, stone, and metal furniture, hardware, and home objects across collections including Strata, Column, and Cooperage, emphasizing material character and durable craftsmanship. Buntain, a 2008 industrial design graduate of Pratt Institute, previously worked as a woodworker for the New Museum before founding the studio. Fort Standard relocated in 2020 to the Greenpoint Wood Exchange, a former bowling alley, and works in materials such as walnut, soapstone, marble, and brass; it has produced a lighting collection, Counterweight, for the Michigan-based brand Roll & Hill, and its furniture has been specified by design firms including Studio Shamshiri and Michael K Chen Architecture.
