Lumen Architecture

Lumen Architecture is a Manhattan architectural lighting design consultancy founded by Nelson Jenkins in 2005, based near Union Square. The nine-person studio designs electric lighting and daylighting systems for museums, embassies, hotels, restaurants, and performing-arts venues, with many projects achieving LEED certification; principal Attila Uysal joined as partner in 2019. Jenkins holds architecture and fine arts degrees from RISD, is a Lighting Certified and LEED Accredited Professional, a registered architect in New York State, and teaches a graduate lighting course at Parsons School of Design. Uysal joined the lighting firm SBLD in 1996 and became a partner there in 2002 before joining Lumen, and he also teaches at the New York School of Interior Design and serves as a visiting design critic at Parsons.
