Mark Jupiter

DUMBO, Brooklyn manufacturer of custom furniture and casework, working mainly in reclaimed and repurposed wood sourced locally. Founded in 2011 by Mark Jupiter, a fourth-generation New York builder, the studio designs and hand-builds dining tables, beds, media units, and workplace furniture in its Plymouth Street shop and showroom. Jupiter sources salvaged materials with local histories, including redwood from a decommissioned Upper West Side water tower, eastern white pine from an 1820s townhouse, and reclaimed heart pine joists from former Brooklyn warehouses such as the Brillo Soap and Arbuckle Coffee buildings, alongside black walnut and reclaimed steel. The studio built custom tables and furniture for the Shake Shack location on Old Fulton Street in DUMBO and won the Inhabitat BKLYN Designs Editors' Choice Award.
