Milgo/Bufkin

Family-owned architectural metal and sculpture fabricator in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, founded in 1916 and now in its fourth generation of ownership. The shop works in stainless steel, aluminum, bronze, and other metals for large-scale architectural elements, metal canopies, and fine-art sculpture, combining CAD-driven design with traditional metalworking craft. The business began as a truck-body manufacturer before its owners shifted to architectural metal fabrication and later large-scale art fabrication, developing a patented metal-folding process that avoids welding on complex three-dimensional sculptures. Its client roster has included Donald Judd, Claes Oldenburg, Richard Serra, and Robert Indiana; the shop fabricated a 96-inch Cor-Ten steel edition of Indiana's LOVE sculpture between 1997 and 1999.
