Richard Clarkson Studio
Lighting MakerNew York- and New Zealand-based art and design studio led by founder Richard Clarkson, producing sculptural lighting objects such as the Cloud and Aurora collections that blend art, design, and engineering. The studio's current address is a Manhattan showroom on Madison Avenue, with a workshop also operating in Porirua, New Zealand. Clarkson developed the original Cloud -- a felted-fiberfill nightlight and speaker that flashes and sounds like a thunderstorm -- as coursework in the MFA Products of Design program at the School of Visual Arts in New York, graduating in 2014. He founded his studio soon after, and it now also produces the Constellation and Gravity collections with a small team spanning art, design, science, and engineering backgrounds.
