Long Island City, Queens rug company founded in 1980 by Jahanshah "Josh" Nazmiyal as a family workshop. Deals in antique, vintage, and contemporary rugs and kilims from an extensive archive, while its Custom Rug Program develops original designs in collaboration with clients. Also provides restoration, appraisal, and installation services to designers, collectors, and institutions. The company expanded in 1989 with a second location in Morristown, New Jersey, before consolidating around its Long Island City showroom, which houses the archive alongside a planned bookshop and exhibition space for textile arts. Its team includes members with backgrounds in architecture, fine art, and design, and the archive -- spanning antique, vintage, Scandinavian, Art Deco, and European collections -- serves as a resource for scholars and collectors as well as designers.
