Underground Signs NYC
Fabrication WorkshopEst. 2010Underground Signs NYC fabricates custom and officially licensed replica transit and subway station signs, real or imagined, from its shop at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The studio combines woodworking and metal fabrication techniques to produce signage for home and office display. Founded in 2010 by web designer Trevor MacDermid, the company holds exclusive fabrication licenses from the transit authorities of New York, Boston, and Chicago, reproducing each system's official Helvetica-lettered signage standards alongside custom orders for sports venues, landmarks, and personalized designs. It also operates a broader commercial graphics arm offering design, fabrication, and installation for offices and retail environments, and its work has been covered by the New York Times, CNN, and Design Milk, among other outlets.
