Alex Proba

German-born multidisciplinary designer who founded Studio Proba in 2013 while working as an art director in New York for Kickstarter and Mother New York. Proba's practice spans large-scale murals, product design, and branding, with rug and tile collections produced for clients including CC-Tapis and Concrete Collaborative. Studio Proba now operates between Portland, Oregon and Brooklyn, New York. Proba studied spatial and graphic design at the Akademie Mode und Design in Hamburg and product and furniture design at the Design Academy Eindhoven, relocating to New York in 2011. Her broader client list includes Nike, Target, and Google, and her large-scale color work extends to hotel murals and swimming pools alongside a CC-Tapis rug collection, The One and the Other, hand-knotted from Himalayan wool and silk by artisans in Nepal, plus an encaustic tile collection for Concrete Collaborative.
