Rug Designer & Artist

Brooklyn (Red Hook) rug designer and artist working from a live/work studio since 2004. Helfand designs hand-knotted rugs in Himalayan wool and Chinese silk, produced by a GoodWeave-certified workshop in Nepal using traditional Tibetan crossed-weaving techniques; her imagery originates from black-and-white drawings and small plaster sculptures she photographs. She won the 2008 ICFF Best of Show award for Carpet and Flooring.
