Caroline Chao is a New York-based furniture designer and licensed architect who founded From: C after training at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and the University of Pennsylvania. Working in lucite, glass, mirror, and wood, she designs furniture and lighting objects — including the BLOC and VIEW collections — that use reflection and transparency to explore light and perception. She began her career at large architecture firms designing skyscrapers before moving into residential interiors and custom furniture, and started From: C in 2022 after relocating to New York. The five-piece BLOC collection, inspired by children's building blocks, debuted at Salone Satellite during Milan Design Week in 2023 and won a NYCxDESIGN Award; the VIEW collection followed at ICFF later that year.
