Francine Besselaar is a principal architect and partner at a+b architectural design lab, a Princeton, New Jersey-based studio she co-founded with Canan Akyuz; the two first worked together at Selldorf Van Campen Architects in New York City before later reuniting to form the firm. She brings over 25 years of experience, including loft and apartment renovations across New York City and residential, corporate, and retail projects as principal of her earlier firm, Westcott Studio. a+b architectural design lab has been recognized as a Sub Zero Regional Winner for kitchen design and named by Dwell Magazine among its 'Intelligent Kitchen Designs.' Besselaar holds a Master in Architecture from the University of Oregon and a BA in English Literature from Colorado College.
