Hamilton Holmes

Furniture and millwork studio led by Nicholas Hamilton Holmes, based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, producing bespoke cabinetry, seating, and sculptural furniture in wood, brass, glass, and upholstery. The studio combines hand-cut joinery with contemporary forms and is represented in New York through Love House gallery, which carries the work under the name Nicholas Hamilton. Holmes's Oxalino collection applies a hand-painted, vinegar-based oxidizing finish to white oak to produce spiral patterns influenced by meditation practice and folk-art traditions; the Wave Shelving piece alone takes more than 40 hours of hand-painting. His work has been featured on Sight Unseen and in Design Milk and Designlines magazine.
