New York-based textile designer and founder of Zak + Fox, a Manhattan textile house producing artisan-made woven, printed, and velvet fabrics and wallpapers with collaborators worldwide. A Los Angeles native who studied conceptual art at the San Francisco Art Institute, Profera worked in music marketing at Sony and designed a rug line for Decorative Carpets before founding Zak + Fox in 2012, naming the studio partly for his Shiba Inu, Shinji. Collections have drawn on Tibetan rugs, antique kimono stencils, and Madagascan board games, and include a collaboration with the design studio Apparatus. Work has been used by designers including Jeffrey Bilhuber, Brad Ford, and Kit Kemp, and featured in Architectural Digest and Elle Decor. Zak + Fox operates a to-the-trade showroom on Park Avenue South and is listed among the makers represented through The Future Perfect's Made By program.
