Jane Atfield

British furniture designer (b. 1964) known for pioneering the use of recycled materials in design. She studied architecture at the Polytechnic of Central London before earning an MA in Furniture Design and Production from the Royal College of Art, where she debuted the RCP2 Chair, made from recycled high-density polyethylene, at her 1992 graduation show. She later founded MADE OF WASTE to develop construction materials from post-consumer plastics. Her work is held by the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Design Museum London, and she is represented in New York by Emma Scully Gallery.
