Jim Olson

Jim Olson, FAIA, is the founder and principal of Olson Kundig, which he started in 1966 after building his first structure, a bunkhouse in Longbranch, Washington, in 1959. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and has explored the interplay of art, nature, and architecture over a career spanning more than sixty years, working primarily on residential projects for art collectors as well as museums and commercial spaces. Under his leadership the firm grew into an internationally recognized, multi-disciplinary practice. He has received the AIA Seattle Medal of Honor and was inducted into Interior Design magazine's Hall of Fame in 2012.
