Najla El Zein

Amsterdam-based Lebanese-French designer (b. 1983, Beirut) who works in stone, ceramic, glass, and concrete to create sculptural objects and installations exploring materiality and cultural narrative. Educated at Ecole Camondo, Paris, earning degrees in product design and interior architecture, El Zein is represented in New York by Friedman Benda gallery, where she has held two solo exhibitions, Transition (2019) and Opacity, Transparency, and Everything in Between (2024). In 2022, Qatar Museums commissioned her hand-carved limestone bench installation Us, Her, Him, spanning more than 1,000 feet at Doha's Flag Plaza, along with a companion piece at the National Museum of Qatar roundabout. Her work is held in the collections of the Dallas Museum of Art, the St. Louis Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and she won the Dia al-Azzawi Prize for Public Art in 2024.
