Naomi Clark

Naomi Clark is a co-founder and artist at Fort Makers, the Brooklyn art and design studio she started in 2008 with Nana Spears and Noah Spencer. She works in painting, dyed and hand-painted textiles, and sculptural functional objects, including a body of work made from vintage wool camp blankets. Clark earned an MFA in painting from Pratt Institute and has exhibited stage backdrops at MoMA PS1. She holds a BFA from the University of Colorado Boulder (2004), and her Pratt thesis, painted found objects influenced by Marcel Duchamp, led to The Blanket Project, her first Fort Makers collaboration. Her hand-painted work extends to scarves, dresses, lampshades, and curtains, and in 2015 she debuted a Fort Makers block-print series using triangle and half-moon motifs echoing the studio's woodworking vocabulary, shown at the MiA Project in Los Angeles.
