Brooklyn-based furniture and product designer producing material-driven, sculptural furniture, objects, and lighting in wood, metal, and stone. Founded her independent studio practice in 2010 and teaches design at Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute, with guest lectures at RISD and SAIC. Collaborations include the Isle lighting collection for Montreal's Lambert & Fils, the Aizome Cabinet for Ariake, and work for Herman Miller, Design Within Reach, and Wästberg; she also co-founded the audio-equipment brand Waves and Frequencies. Mowat received a Surface Magazine Endorsement Award for furniture design in 2015 and an Architectural Digest/MONOQI nomination in Arts + Crafts in 2014. Work is held in the permanent collection of the Musee des Beaux-Arts de Montreal, as well as the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Québec City and the Stewart Foundation for Design collections.
