Art + Furniture: Designers, Makers, and Advocates
Sep 25, 2026 – Apr 2, 2027
Gallery hours Mon–Sat, 10 AM–6 PM
About
Curators Thomas Mellins and Donald Albrecht trace the art and studio furniture movements of the late 20th century, when SoHo's cheap industrial lofts drew artists and craftspeople blurring the line between fine art and functional design. The show gathers furniture, objects, and photographs by twenty makers, including Donald Judd, Wendell Castle, Dakota Jackson, and Michele Oka Doner, alongside lesser-known figures such as Elizabeth Browning Jackson and Wendy Maruyama who helped redefine what furniture could be and how it was sold.
