From Monarchy to Modernity: Travel, Identity, & the Czechoslovak First Republic (1918–1938)
Apr 23 – Nov 1, 2026
About
Curated by Swann Auction Galleries poster specialist and longtime Antiques Roadshow appraiser Nicholas D. Lowry, the exhibition reads Czechoslovak travel posters from the interwar First Republic as instruments of soft power, marketing the young nation formed from former Austro-Hungarian territories as a land of progress and beauty to visitors at home and abroad. Works by designers including Rudolf Höns, Vilém Rotter, and Stanislav Kučera promote state airlines, rail travel, and spa towns.
