Humanist Modernity
Oct 1, 2026 – Mar 27, 2027
About
First exhibition to present architects Maciej (Matthew) Nowicki and Stanisława Sandecka-Nowicka as equal creative partners, tracing the human-centered strain of modernism they called 'humanist modernity' across drawing, building, and graphic design in Europe, America, and India. Nowicki died in a 1950 plane crash while returning from designing Chandigarh; Sandecka-Nowicka went on to become the first woman appointed a full professor of architecture in the US, at the University of Pennsylvania. The show is organized with Poland's National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning.
