Cooper Hewitt's first large-scale photography exhibition presents more than 70 large-format images by Christopher Payne documenting American manufacturing, from Steinway piano rims and Zildjian cymbal shaping to Boeing fuselage sections, GE jet engines, and IBM's quantum computers. Curated by Susan Brown, the survey frames industrial labor and machinery as, in Payne's words, "a celebration of the making of things."
