Alex Strada, NYC's inaugural Public Artist in Residence with the Departments of Homeless Services and Cultural Affairs, developed this citywide project through collaborative "log-writing" workshops with residents and staff at city shelters. Handwritten reflections from participants were translated into sculptural street-sign forms fabricated from upcycled aluminum and installed on lampposts and in public plazas across the boroughs, in coordination with the Departments of Parks and Transportation.
