Walking Tour: Privately Owned Public Spaces (POPS) in Midtown North
Sun, Aug 23, 2026 · 10:30 AM ET
About
AIA New York architect-led walk through Midtown's privately owned public spaces, the plazas, arcades, and atriums that the city's 1961 zoning resolution encouraged developers to build in exchange for extra height. The route weaves through POPS between 58th and 46th Streets and Third and Sixth Avenues, tracing how incentive zoning reshaped the blocks around Lever House and the Seagram Building. A personal audio system is used, and the group is capped at 17 participants.
