Bowen Liu Studio

Brooklyn furniture and object design studio founded in 2017 by Bowen Liu, working from Red Hook. The studio designs handcrafted furniture, lighting, and objects centered on fine woodworking, with some pieces made in-house and others produced by U.S. manufacturers, and is represented at Love House in Manhattan. Liu, who grew up in Beijing and Tangshan, China, holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Beijing Forestry University and an MFA in furniture design from the Rochester Institute of Technology; she worked as a furniture designer at Bryan O'Sullivan Studio before founding her own practice. Her Helle Collection, first produced in wood in 2021 and reimagined in cast glass in 2023, won the ICFF Editors Award and a NYCxDesign Award; her Feast Collection debuted at ICFF in 2017. Her work has been featured in Interior Design, Elle Decor, Dwell, Metropolis, and Dezeen.
