Manhattan-headquartered materials and textile design company founded in 1962, whose first product was a flame-retardant drapery developed for the Seagram Building with architects Mies van der Rohe and Philip Johnson. Designtex designs and manufactures upholstery, wallcovering, drapery, and architectural surface materials for commercial interiors from its 200 Hudson Street headquarters and design studio. Owned by Steelcase.
