Hand-painted wallpaper and decorative arts studio founded in New York City in 1898 by James Gracie, whose son Charles R. Gracie built its hand-painted wallpaper business, still family-owned and currently led by siblings Mike Gracie, who serves as president, and Jennifer Gracie, the creative director; their father, Brian Gracie, now serves as chairman. The Manhattan studio produces custom silk, metallic, and papier chinois wallpapers, lacquer furniture, and museum-quality restoration work, with a trade showroom in the D&D Building. Gracie has partnered with a hand-painted wallpaper studio in Beijing since 1927, a relationship spanning decades; each custom panel takes roughly 80 to 120 hours to produce, with a typical production timeline of 14 to 16 weeks, and designer clients have included Alexa Hampton. Charles R. Gracie later built the firm's hand-painted wallpaper business.
