Lights Up

Family-run, woman-owned lighting manufacturer at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, designing and hand-producing lamps and lighting fixtures since 1987. Wire frames and fabric shades are made in-house by a skilled production team using both traditional equipment and newer techniques, with dozens of shade-material options including recycled and FSC-certified materials. Founded by Rachel Simon, the company originally operated out of Industry City before relocating to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and holds a certified Woman-Owned Business designation. Its shade-material options include fabric woven from recycled PET plastic bottles alongside FSC-certified wood veneers, and its lamps have been shown at the Brooklyn Designs showcase at the Brooklyn Museum.
