American textile house founded in 1929 in Long Island City, Queens by Franco and Flora Scalamandré, beginning with a single loom and weaver. Designs and manufactures silk fabrics, damasks, brocatelles, lampas weaves, wallcoverings, and decorative trim, with a history of historic-restoration work including projects at the White House and U.S. Capitol. Merged its business with Stark Carpet in 2017; headquarters and flagship showroom are now at the D&D Building in Manhattan.
