Thompson Street Studio

SoHo, Manhattan textile studio founded in 2014 by Kiva Motnyk, producing handmade pillows, curtains, and textile art through weaving, quilting, appliqué, silk-screening, and natural-dye techniques applied to recycled materials and antique fabrics. Motnyk holds a BFA in fashion and textiles from RISD, studied traditional quilting in Mississippi, and worked as a textile designer and creative director for Isaac Mizrahi before founding the studio. She hand-dyes fabric using foraged natural materials such as marigold, goldenrod, and sumac, and incorporates indigo-dyed and Japanese boro textiles into her work. The studio was profiled in New York Cottages & Gardens in 2023.
