Furniture DesignerCustom FurnitureWoodworking & MillworkFounder & Designer, KWH Furniture at Colony
Brooklyn-based furniture designer and founder of KWH Furniture, working from a workshop at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design's furniture design program, Hsu designs handcrafted case goods and seating built with traditional joinery, an approach shaped by time living and traveling in Asia. Working under the philosophy that "beauty lies in simplicity," he selects and finishes woods, including white oak and black walnut, paired with brass hardware, to foreground each material's natural grain; pieces include a cerused-oak Metropolis desk with cork-lined drawers and an oil-finished black-walnut vanity table. His work is carried by Colony, the Tribeca design co-op and showroom.
