Maker & FabricatorCollectible DesignGlassGlass Artist at R & Company
Richard Marquis is a glass artist based in Freeland, Washington, represented in New York by R & Company. Trained first in ceramics, he shifted to glassblowing in the late 1960s and became the first American permitted to work in Murano's Venini factory, where he learned traditional Venetian caning and murrine techniques and brought them back to American studio glass. His work, held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Corning Museum of Glass, pairs technical precision with playful, narrative forms.
