Joris Laarman: Symbio

Laarman's first New York solo show in nearly a decade pairs two bodies of work: the Ply Loop series of oak- and walnut-veneer furniture bonded with a biodegradable bio-resin, and a set of benches three-dimensionally printed from carbon-storing recycled concrete. The benches' surfaces follow growth patterns generated by Alan Turing's reaction-diffusion algorithm and include recessed channels seeded with moss and lichen. The show follows Laarman's 2017 survey at Cooper Hewitt.
