Focus Lighting

Architectural lighting design firm based in Harlem, Manhattan, founded in 1987 by Paul Gregory. The firm designs lighting for hospitality, retail, restaurant, and cultural projects, and Gregory was awarded the IES Fellow designation in 2025 for lasting contributions to the field. Gregory trained in theatrical lighting at the Goodman Theatre School of the Art Institute of Chicago before founding the firm. Focus Lighting's projects have included the Times Square New Year's Eve ball, the Entel Tower in Santiago, Chile, one of the first buildings with automated color-changing exterior lighting, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County's Dinosaur Hall, and the Atmosphere restaurant atop the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The firm has received more than 30 industry awards, including multiple Lumen and IALD awards.
