Melanie Freundlich Lighting Design

Melanie Freundlich Lighting Design is a Manhattan architectural lighting design practice founded by Melanie Freundlich in 1997, based in the Garment District. After roughly a decade at Fisher Marantz Renfro Stone, where she worked on the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Phoenix Art Museum, Freundlich established her own studio, working across academic, residential, cultural, commercial, and workplace lighting projects; she has been an IESNYC member for over 25 years. She holds a bachelor's degree in theater production and design from Wesleyan University and a master of fine arts in architectural lighting design from Parsons School of Design, and began her career as a theatrical lighting designer before moving into architecture. Her work, including the Duane Library Visitor's Center at Fordham University, has received IESNYC Lumen Awards.
